ABOUT HANNAH
Farrell lives and works in Co. Laois, however it was growing up in London that formed the basis to her inspiration. The hustle and bustle of city life combined with the energy and endless supply of visual stimuli resulted in a continued love for all things urban. Architecture, pops of colour, advertisements, lighting and contrasts in industrial materials and textures are all sources of inspiration to Farrell.
A fondness for photography resulted in the application to a FETAC Level 5 course in digital media where she prepared a portfolio; here she embraced the opportunity to explore her interest in the city through digital media.
It was here that she was also introduced to and discovered a love for ceramics. LSAD provided the platform for Farrell to further express her love of the urban through the medium of ceramic design. Her designs throughout third level have all linked back to the city or referenced architecture in some way. Geometric form, Clean lines and Minimalism, linked with the notion that 'Form Follows Function' are all important characteristics of Farrells continued work.
She strongly believes in the saying that 'Less is More' and functionality is of utmost importance to her.
